Buckingham Palace Issues Major Update On Queen Camilla’s Health

Buckingham Palace has issued a major update on Queen Camilla‘s health.

Last week, Buckingham Palace announced that Queen Camilla would not participate in several official events, as her doctors recommended rest to aid her recovery from the seasonal illness.

This week, however, she is gradually resuming public appearances with a reduced workload, as per medical advice.

Queen Camilla missed several prominent Remembrance events, including the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall and the Sunday service at the Cenotaph, where King Charles, Prince William, and other members of the royal family gathered to honor fallen servicemen and women.

In a statement on November 9, Buckingham Palace confirmed the Queen’s absence, explaining (per the Express) that: “Following doctors’ guidance to ensure a full recovery from a seasonal chest infection, and to protect others from any potential risk, Her Majesty will not attend this weekend’s Remembrance events.”

“While this is a source of great disappointment to The Queen, she will mark the occasion privately at home and hopes to return to public duties early next week,” it added.

Despite her disappointment, Camilla acknowledged that this decision was necessary to prevent any risk of infection to elderly veterans attending the ceremonies.

Additionally, Queen Camilla missed the annual opening of the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, a role filled in her absence by the Duchess of Gloucester.

Other commitments, including a reception for Olympic and Paralympic athletes at Buckingham Palace, were overseen solely by King Charles, who also contends with health challenges due to an ongoing cancer treatment.

Recently, Prince William shared his perspective on this challenging year for the family, stating in the New York Post: “I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been brutal.”

Despite these setbacks, Queen Camilla returned to her public duties on November 12, hosting a reception at Clarence House for the Booker Prize nominees.

Known for her passion for literature, she has long advocated for literacy and reading, and this literary event was one she was eager to attend.

In light of her health, her engagement at the Booker Prize reception was shortened.

The event highlights some of the year’s most celebrated literary talent, with shortlisted authors receiving £2,500 each, while the winner is awarded £50,000.

Notable past recipients of the Booker Prize include Margaret Atwood and Bernardine Evaristo, both recognized for their literary contributions.

Further adjustments to Camilla’s engagements this week reflect continued caution from her doctors.

She will attend another reception with King Charles on November 13, celebrating the film and television industry, but she will not stay for the entirety of the event.

Additionally, Queen Camilla will not accompany the King to the London premiere of Gladiator II on Wednesday evening, and she will miss his appearance at the opening of the Coronation food hub on Thursday, his birthday.

Though her absence from several events has raised concerns, palace sources emphasize there is no need for alarm.
