My\u00a0eyes were still closed, but\u00a0I could hear his breathing getting heavy and strange. It\u00a0became so\u00a0loud that it\u00a0made me\u00a0angry. I\u00a0turned over and opened my\u00a0eyes to\u00a0tell him to\u00a0shut\u00a0up, only to\u00a0find nobody in\u00a0the room.<br \/>\nThe breathing suddenly stopped, but\u00a0I froze in\u00a0terror when\u00a0I saw he\u00a0wasn\u2019t in\u00a0the room, even though it\u00a0all sounded so\u00a0real. I\u00a0come out of\u00a0the bathroom and walk down the hall to\u00a0where he\u2019s sitting. He\u00a0looks at\u00a0me\u00a0and smiles, and my\u00a0heart melts.<br \/>\nThen he\u00a0looks just over my\u00a0shoulder, past\u00a0me, into the darkness of\u00a0the hallway, and says, \u201cHi.\u201d I\u00a0spun around so\u00a0quickly\u2014it\u2019s just the two of\u00a0us. I\u00a0had all the lights on\u00a0for the rest of\u00a0the night. At\u00a0about 11, I\u00a0heard someone trying my\u00a0locked bedroom door and assumed it\u00a0was my\u00a0housemate, so\u00a0I\u00a0shouted, \u201cWhat do\u00a0you want?\u201d<br \/>\nThe problem\u00a0I didn\u2019t know at\u00a0the time was that they had all left the house at\u00a0half past 10. Someone had smashed up\u00a0our back door and was checking all the rooms, presumably planning to\u00a0rob\u00a0us. The lady who sold it\u00a0was an\u00a0old widow, and she sold it\u00a0with all her old furniture. My\u00a0parents got rid of\u00a0most of\u00a0this stuff.<br \/>\nEvery night at\u00a0the same hour, they could hear a\u00a0rocking chair downstairs and the lid of\u00a0a\u00a0trash can slamming (objects they had gotten rid\u00a0of). This lasted for a\u00a0few weeks until my\u00a0aunt came to\u00a0babysit\u00a0me. She was unaware of\u00a0the phenomenon and freaked out.<br \/>\nShe yelled, \u201cYou don\u2019t live here anymore, you don\u2019t belong in\u00a0this world. Don\u2019t come back!\u201d After that, my\u00a0parents never heard those sounds again.\u00a0\u00a9\u00a0CatF***sForBreakfast\u00a0\/ Reddit<\/p>\n<p>Story 6:<\/p>\n<p>My\u00a0parents were separated, and it\u00a0was my\u00a0dad\u2019s turn to\u00a0have me\u00a0at\u00a0his place. At\u00a0the time, we\u00a0lived in\u00a0the back half of\u00a0my\u00a0great-uncle\u2019s house. It\u00a0was mainly one kitchen\/dining\/living room, with a\u00a0bathroom and bedroom on\u00a0one end. The living room window was up\u00a0high, so\u00a0you had to\u00a0stand on\u00a0something to\u00a0see into\u00a0it.<br \/>\nOne time, I\u00a0was home alone while my\u00a0dad and great-uncle were at\u00a0work. The\u00a0TV\u00a0went dark long enough for me\u00a0to\u00a0catch sight of\u00a0a\u00a0face in\u00a0the living room window. I\u00a0looked over my\u00a0shoulder, and some creeper was staring at\u00a0me. He\u00a0vanished as\u00a0soon as\u00a0I saw him.<br \/>\nWhen my\u00a0dad came back, he\u00a0said there were footprints in\u00a0the dirt and some firewood knocked over.\u00a0\u00a9 ChernSH \/ Reddit<\/p>\n<p>Story 7:<\/p>\n<p>I\u00a0got a\u00a0phone call from a\u00a0private number. I\u00a0missed the call and received a\u00a0voicemail. It\u00a0was my\u00a0brother (who was in\u00a0prison at\u00a0the time and calling from the prison phone) and my\u00a0mom having part of\u00a0a\u00a0conversation.<br \/>\nSo\u00a0I\u00a0texted my\u00a0mom and said\u00a0I was sorry\u00a0I missed the phone call but hoped she and my\u00a0brother were well. She had no\u00a0clue what\u00a0I was talking about; she hadn\u2019t spoken to\u00a0my\u00a0brother at\u00a0all that day.<br \/>\nTo\u00a0this day, I\u00a0have no\u00a0idea why a\u00a0private number called me\u00a0and left an\u00a0old recording of\u00a0my\u00a0brother and mother speaking. I\u00a0get really weirded out thinking about who would have been on\u00a0the other end if\u00a0I had answered. I\u00a0assumed it\u00a0was raccoons or\u00a0something trying to\u00a0get into our neighbor\u2019s shed. After listening for a\u00a0while longer, I\u00a0managed to\u00a0fall back asleep.<br \/>\nIn\u00a0the morning, I\u00a0brought up\u00a0the\u00a0noise\u00a0to\u00a0my\u00a0mom, who said she had heard a\u00a0similar noise coming from that same side of\u00a0the house; only she got out of\u00a0bed and went to\u00a0the front living room window to\u00a0investigate. What she saw was a\u00a0man emerge from between our house and our neighbor\u2019s place.<br \/>\nHe\u00a0stopped in\u00a0front of\u00a0our home, took a\u00a0long look, removed a\u00a0pair of\u00a0latex gloves, and then proceeded to\u00a0walk down our street. About halfway down, I\u00a0was surrounded by\u00a0eight or\u00a0nine dogs\u2014not wolves, but different breeds of\u00a0domestic dogs. They didn\u2019t make a\u00a0sound but blocked my\u00a0path in\u00a0a\u00a0half circle.<br \/>\nI\u00a0was terrified and ran back home, and when\u00a0I looked back, they were gone. I\u2019d look out the window to\u00a0see two all-white cats sitting on\u00a0the wall in\u00a0the front yard right in\u00a0front of\u00a0my\u00a0window, talking to\u00a0each other. Once I\u00a0opened the shade, they would stop and just stare at\u00a0me. Very confused and panicking that my\u00a0family would wake up\u00a0and question me\u00a0about the noise, I\u00a0got out of\u00a0bed to\u00a0try to\u00a0see what was going\u00a0on.<br \/>\nThe laptop screen was black, and as\u00a0best\u00a0I could remember, I\u00a0had shut it\u00a0off earlier.
