The South Plains SPCA described it as the \u201cworst case of dog neglect we have ever encountered,\u201d with Matt\u2019s fur matted to the skin, causing severe pain.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Rescuers had to sedate Matt to cut away three pounds of fur, which also included embedded collars and even beetles. \u201cHis hair growth was about five years of matting,\u201d said Kim Moyers, president of the SPCA. The dog had bruises from the tight fur and was anemic, but fortunately, he tested negative for heartworms and tick disease.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-3\">\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1714631\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After the grooming, Matt looked like a new dog. \u201cHe is the most gorgeous-looking dog I\u2019ve ever seen,\u201d said Tori Houston, his foster caretaker. Despite his tough past, Matt is now enjoying walks and a taste of a normal, happy life.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Matt is currently being fostered and will be available for adoption after his full recovery.
